Usually our Ladder Truck companies will secure a building from weather and leave a cop at the scene to babysit the structure until Service Master or Serve-Pro or another similar company gets called in by the homeowner or insurance company. Service Master type companies are usually on scene pretty quickly in our area.
As a commander, I'm more concerned with a "re-kindle" and want to be sure the fire is DEAD OUT. (Re-kindles are so embarrasing!!) I keep those sorts of companies in business as I use a lot of water to be sure my job is done. I look at it this way, everything can dry out - NOTHING UNBURNS!!

In Michigan the fire department pretty much owns the home or structure until secure from a restoration company. Serve Pro is used often in our area. Belfore is the company used most of the time. Our you aware of them? I listen to a scanner often and on almost every fire they are called out. Curious as to how they get connected with so many fire departments. Do you have different restoration companies knocking on your door selling their services?
Sorry to get off the beat and path from SoftWash, always interested to learn from people in other states.

Mark, Very cool another Fire Fighter..... I am a Volunteer Fire Fighter here in our community. VIN in Mississippi is also a Full Time Fire Fighter. We need to talk sometime.
Now back to the regularly scheduled subject..... LoL..... Great looking Roof Cleaning in Houston Texas, Doug. Clean & Green Solutions Always does a fine job of Roof Cleaning, Soft Washing, Concrete Cleaning , and pressure Washing in Houston Texas.

Hey John,
We're pretty much the same here - we OWN the structure and have a chain of custody. Most often we turn the structure over to one of the Fire Investigators in the Fire Marshal's Office once we've completed all the overhaul and initial investigation with them. They will then turn the structure over to the responsible party or another agency it that is warranted. I haven't heard of a company called Belfore around here, but that's not to say they aren't. If they are, they are probably contacting our Fire Chief's office. We have 20 stations in our county divided into 3 Battalions, so 99% of those types of decisions are made up there in the "Crystal Palace".

Hey VIN, good to meet you too brother! I've been on several other boards and so far, this one is blowing them all away. I've met lots of great guys here who are willing to share and help in every aspect of the biz. I believe you will like it here on this forum and learn a lot. (I'm guessing by saying you're just getting your feet wet, your referring to roof washing rather than the fire department)
I hear from Chris that you're a professional firefighter there in Mississippi?? What department are you with? You a hose monkey or a truckie?? I spent about 2/3 my career on a ladder truck. Roof work (as far as cleaning) sure is a lot easier when the roof is not on fire, isn't it?

Mark i have 15 years on the department, presently on a Rescue unit. I have been on a Truck, Squad, Pumper, RIT Team and Rescue. I work for Jackson FD, the capital city here in Mississippi. We have 23 stations with about 350 people in the combat division.

15 years, awesome Vin! I've got 17 years with Henrico County, 3.5 yrs with the City of Roanoke, 1 yr on Naval Air Station, Moffett Field, and started of volunteering back in 1987 for a couple of years. With our VRS (Virginia Retirement System) I was able to buy back my time from Roanoke and Moffett Field and apply it to my service longevity. So in essence I've got 21 years of service with VRS and am eligible to retire in another 4 years. Probably work another 7-10 though as my youngest son is still only 7 y.o. Definitely not ready to retire yet either - still LOVE going to work. BEST JOB IN THE WORLD!!
