Has anyone tried to remove rust stains from an asphalt roof. I have always used oxalic acid to remove rust and it works on some small stains but im doing a large stain around 20x30 ft and it is not easy. Any ideas
Also any good ways to clean dried up bleach on a driveway, seems like water is not cutting it.

Rust deriving from metal is not usually removable. Example from a satilite dish mount or from a chiminy cap. If you try too hard you will likely damage the shingles.

I did a asphalt roof clean and the snow catchers created a rust on the roof weeks after the job. How can I clean this? It seems as though the snow catchers reacted to the SH. Could this be the issue? and if so how can I avoid this in the future?
nice what did you use. AC was right about damaging the shingles with Oxcilic Acid. we had a customer who wanted the stain out so bad my guys kept going stronger and stronger with it till the stain was out. It did leave a lighter pigment in the shingle after. but he was happy the stain was not there. Im just scared to mix it that strong and have to replace a roof afterwords

One Restore from Eaco Chem. I mix it 50/50, wet shingles first, apply till stain is gone, rinse and chase with Green Wash, or or surfactant and water.

Thanks for the advice. Great Forum here.
I used one restore on this roof and it worked perfect. Used a 50/50 mix with a dwell time of around 30 min between applications. Most of the stains came out on the first application but I had to hit and scrub some a few more times. Problem was- I could only buy the One Restore in a 5 gal container. I only used 3/4 of a gal.
Sorry working on the photos.

Thats way to long. It should remove it in a minute or two or less.

That's what I would have liked. There was about 30 stains on the roof. I spent about 2hrs there with a helper. I was very concerned about using a hotter mix due to the asphalt.

the end result is what matters. You will get faster with it with more experience and playing with it. GREAT JOB.
