So I've been absorbing information like a dried out sponge staring up at the Arizona sun. Decided to take a step and bought a 3 gallon sprayer for R&D.
It turns out that store bought sh at 6% is garbage. I used the 3%, 100 gallon mix chart and stomped it down to 3 gallons. I sprayed it on a block
retaining wall and got dismal results. However in the process I was able to bleach sprinkle spots on my favorite blue shirt ! I sprayed a large area of the
driveway and let it soak over night, still nothing. Back to the drawing board for this newbie. I'm in the process of putting a "BoGator" setup
together. Being in rural Arkansas makes it difficult to find parts. Any store that might carry the parts is 50 miles away. I certainly need to fail faster
to get my ducks in a row !

Clorox Bleach or generic is 5%. That means to get a 2.5% solution you would cut it in half.
Go to tractor supply. Look at the lawn tractor / ATV sprayers. Just add more hose.

That type of work will require the use of a pressure washer after its been treated.

I understand that 5% is half of what is in the mixoligy chart and doubling the sh would bring it up to 10%, but what am I cutting in half to get the 2.5%

no mixology chart is based on pool bleach which comes between 10 and 12%. Store bleach is 5 to 6% I see you came over from the other site. R**A One half of pool bleach 12% would be a 6% solution and about the same strength as store bleach.
Does that help?

*sigh* yeah I found that site first. I'm sure you can see why I'm here now. Their warm welcome saved me $100 by not becoming a "Premium" member. Perhaps they are professional but thats not the atmosphere I want to be in or around. I checked out Tractor supply and think I have picked a sprayer. It's not much but it will get me started. I think I might have it figured out. With the store bought sh that I have I cut the water volume in half before dividing the sh volume into it so it's not diluted as much?

If you use store bought bleach do a 1 to 1 ratio. One gallon store bleach to one gallon of water to make two total gallons. Avoid gallon containers that look bloated or pregnant. That means the bleach is old and bad.

The surface your trying to clean is going to need to be pressure washed. Soft washing has its place but just not for the job at hand.

Thanks Michael, I lack a ladder tall enough to get on the roof yet so I just sprayed it on the block to test it. New guy jitters and all that. I figured my mix wouldn't hurt the block. It was just a test spot.

Is sh even necessary on block / concrete? If it has to be power washed after application anyway

You can get us a tractor supply system like AC said, I had one but the pump was too weak so I built my own and the used the largest pump Tractor supply had. I kept the other system for spraying around the house.

I know that this is going off the original topic but magikman92 is not going crazy. What you are experiencing is due to the RETICULAR ACTIVATOR system in the brain. This helps filter out stimuli that we deem useless and helps us notice info that we deem important. The best example I can give that I'm sure we have all experienced is when you bought a car. After you've narrowed your seach down to a few or one car all of a sudden you see the cars everywhere. Almost like they never existed until YOU decided YOU wanted one.
"Habituation - This is a process in which the brain learns to ignore repetitive, meaningless stimuli while remaining sensitive to others. A good example of this is when a person can sleep through loud traffic in a large city, but is awakened promptly due to the sound of an alarm or crying baby. Reticular formation nuclei that modulate activity of the cerebral cortex are part of the reticular activating system."
I'm sure that's more than anyone wants to know but I find it interesting. I'm sure there's some connection to how advertising works, repetition repetition repetition.

I don't know if this is common but It's happening to me. Now that I have become aware of this process, every time I watch a tv show I find myself looking at the roof of every
house on the show as people are walking or driving. Any that come into view. It's annoying lol. I completly miss the point of the show because of it. " wow that shopping center
is in terrible shape, or, How can they expect to sell that house with a roof like that ?!?!?!?

I use to stay behind and watch the credits in movie theaters if I saw a dirty roof in the movie, to see where it was filmed.
