I have experienced a huge advantage in the competitive fishing world using polarized fishing glasses to remove the glare from the waters surface so I can see fish before I catch them. I never imagined what a difference polarization would make while cleaning surfaces. Because we are outside and using water to clean we experience alot of glare while cleaning surfaces. This glare keeps us from truly seeing how well we have actually cleaned a surface. Polarized glasses are essential for roof cleaning. More than that a selection of different lenses and tints can make a world of difference when cleaning and in the long haul save your vision.
I like to use High Contrast Yellow for morning or low light conditions during overcast or storms. High Con Yellow allows full polarization with allowing as much light to move through the lense as possible.
In general light conditions my favorite lense is the Amber Mirrored lense. You get a great filterization of UV light but also full polarization up to 98% glare reduction. The mirror looks great and actually HOLDS UP TO BLEACH!

The lense actually gradients from mossback green at the top to high con yellow at the bottom. That way you have MAX light protection from top angles but clarity and min light reduction from the bottom of the lense. These also have maximum 98% polarization allowing you to see the roof under the glare thereby allowing you to treat the roof more effectively seeing algae and bacteria you would normally have missed.

I have used these glasses when I was doing the bass tournament thing up here in Michigan, these are great glasses to have. Very light weight and comfortable to wear all day. May be a little more money than your used to spending on glasses, but they are so worth it. I was going to buy a pair and bring with me, now I will wait till I get there to buy them.
